Step Ups is a kind of aerobics exercise. It can be performed easily anywhere. This is one of the forms of cardio exercise. This exercise helps to tone your body and in result help in increasing your stamina. Step ups exercise helps in working of the muscles of the hamstrings, glutes, and quads. Step ups exercise involves some simple controlled movements. This exercise involves movement on stepping platform.
How to do Step Ups
- You should stand with your feet together. Your arms should be always by your sides. Also knees should be slightly bent. You need to stand about 6 to 8 inches from the center of the step.
- Then start the marching by standing at the same location. You need to swing your feet up and down and bring the feet in front of your chest. This movement is the beginning of the exercise. In between you need to do the stepping movement.
- Then step on the platform with your right foot heel first. If required you can also adjust the floor position as per your requirement. You can keep your arms by your sides or you can move the same with the movement of the feet.
- Then bring the left foot up on the platform. And enable it to meet the right foot but just for few seconds.
- Then as soon as you return right foot to the beginning position, you should roll the toes off the platform.
- You should repeat these basic steps, beginning with left foot.
- You can also add jumps, twists, or punches with this basic steps going forward. You can do the step ups with dumbbells.
Tips
- You should always look straight while doing this exercise.
- You should keep your back straight.
- You should move up and down without wobbling from one side to another.
- You should never do step up exercise on the padded bench.
- The height of the bench should be such that you are able to step up a max at 900 angle at the knee.
You can do the step ups on bench also. For doing this you need to stand straight in front of the bench. Then start the Step Ups by stepping up with your right leg and then step up with your left leg. This makes you stand on the bench. Now step down with your right leg, and then your left leg. Repeat the Step Ups with your left leg again.
